They got to go boating when they "borrowed" their grandfather's sailboat. And they got to go swimming when the boat sank off the coast of a tropical island. Now they are going to get to go hiking, because a bizarre genie named Rialti has turned Chealey into a camel and won't turn her back until they bring him a magical dragon's horn from the other side of the Crown of Amaranth.

For the protection of the magical people and animals that live in the Crown of Amaranth, its exact location must remain secret. It is one of the last refuges of giants, trolls, witches, unicorns, fairy folk, and dragons, all of whom have their own reasons for delaying the children in their quest.

A Genie In The Hand Is Worth Two In The Crown - A year has passed since Paul and Chaeley met the genie Rialti and were tricked into going to the Crown of Amaranth on a quest for a dragon's horn. They haven't forgotten the adventures they had and the friends they made in that magical realm, but summer vacation is ending and school is about to begin. The children take one last trip to the beach, and when Paul finds a perfect conch shell, he has no idea that hiding inside the shell is Rialti, who escaped his fate in the crater of the volcano. When the genie hears Paul idly make a wish, Rialti has no choice but to grant it.
Now Chaeley and their monkey Chirp have to travel with Rialti back into the Crown of Amaranth to rescue her brother. But the lands of myth and legend and all of Paul and Chaeley's friends have changed in their absence, and Rialti's spells are unfortunately as imperfect as ever.

Third Times A Charm - School is out, and Paul and Chaeley are looking forward to their summer in Amaranth, the magical realm hidden somewhere in the rugged valleys of the island of Oahu. Before they can summon Carrog the dragon for a ride though, they find Rialti's magic bottle in Chaeley's backpack, where it had been tucked away after their last adventure. Rialti offers them one final wish, and after a great deal of careful thought, Paul and Chaeley make a wish so foolproof that even Rialti couldn't possibly mess it up. Never underestimate an incompetent genie! Paul and Chaeley end up trapped inside Hexes A&M, the magical university, and they can't get out until they've learned magic. There's only one problem. Paul and Chaeley don't have an ounce of magical talent between them... or do they?
