Jonathan Saul has been convicted of murdering his unfaithful wife in an old sugar plantation house near the Florida resort town of Crystal River - on the very same day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in downtown Dallas... November 22, 1963...

Now Jonathan is languishing on Death Row, while his lawyer, Jennifer Amos, is preparing a final appeal to the Governor of Florida to commute the death penalty.

Matthew Saul joins forces with Jennifer to track down a missing witness, and the search takes them to New Orleans and Miami, into the secret world of the Mob, of covert CIA operations against Castro, and of violent Cuban exiles.

Matthew's time is limited: he has to discover the truth about his son while fighting the brain tumor that is slowly killing him. Yet his developing relationship with Jennifer brings him some hope that all is not lost...

Their journey of discovery eventually leads Matthew and Jennifer back to the murder house at Crystal River, and a deadly confrontation with a devious and psychotic murderer...
