Susan, now home, discovers she is pregnant. She carries her Australian lover's child. Another glittering relationship beckons. Engaged to the new man her future seems bright.

But her past returns to haunt her. Slowly and inexorably the truth of what happened in Australia emerges. The police have her photo. They are closing in on her identity.

She must decide what to do - decide her unborn child's fate. She has the diary of her former lover. She must know who he is to make a choice. But she cannot bear to know. She passes it to another.

It seems to Susan that the malevolent spirit of the crocodile which pursued her in the first book is slowly taking her over and consuming her mind. She must make yet more terrible choices in order to save herself and her sanity and to avoid another betrayal.
