Description
"I will never forget the moment when your heart stopped, and mine kept beating"
After recovering from a severe car accident three years before, Todd unexpectedly dies in his sleep and is found by his mother, Alice, in the early morning. After almost five years of continuous sobriety, Alice finds herself dealing not only with her shattered heart but with the aftermath of dealing with her husband, Ben, who was still suffering from his alcoholism and the unfounded guilt that he should have kept Todd safe in his own home.
With the whispers of a hundred tiny voices soothing him, Todd drifts into Heaven. The Scribe, who holds The Book of Life, welcomes Todd with an understanding smile and gives him an important task. Todd is to share the story of his loving family with all the little angels gathered around him, who knew no such love on Earth. He shares his life on Earth in video clips on the Sky Screen above the clouds.
Enchanted by the love she sees from his mother, one little angel named Haley travels to Earth in human form to claim Alice as her 'new mommy.' Watching her happiness at a new life, the rest of the angels decide to join her, hoping to find loving families of their own as well.
To convince and gather all the angels quickly back to Heaven, The Scribe takes Todd down to Earth to help, with one condition. Although the Scribe will be in human form, Todd cannot. He must keep a clear distance so his loved ones cannot feel his presence.
Will Todd be able to keep his distance from those he loves so they won't see him? Can Todd and the Scribe convince all the children to return to Heaven quickly, as the rest of the nation begins to question and accuse Alice of kidnapping these children?
Told from a dual POV (Heaven and Earth), they share a mother and son's journey, from their struggle with anger and denial to their eventual healing and final acceptance. Through believing in their deep faith, they each begin to move into a new future, neither ever expected to be so soon.
