Description

A SALVAGED SHIP

Abandoned on Assend by his former employer, Terson Reilly faced limited options: become mercenary cannon fodder when his severance pay ran out, bet his life on finding passage off-world with a crew who wouldn't cut his throat, or team up with the man whose underhanded manipulations were at least partly to blame for getting him grounded and light out in search of a treasure-laden derelict. Choosing the latter seemed the right choice at the time, but circumstances soon threatened to drag him back to Nivia and the crime syndicate waiting there to exact revenge.

A PRECARIOUS POSITION

After a slave revolt left the Family operation on Nivia in shambles, Halsor Tennison had one last chance to salvage his reputation -- and possibly his life: make peace with the Minzoku, the very people the Family had ordered him to eradicate, and rescue the Family personnel they held captive. It was a difficult proposition at best, complicated by the presence of Dayuki, his supposedly dead Minzoku mistress, living under the same roof as Tamara Cirilo, now his wife by Council decree. And then that damnable Terson Reilly turned up...

A THREATENED CAREER

Admiral Richard Wellborn thought he'd found the solution after the Embustero defaulted on its contract: send a team of specialists to Proxima Cygni aboard a small vessel to resume negotiations with the system's Emir. It wasn't until the ship, passengers and crew vanished that an old friend appeared with the news that one of his team was a savant vulnerable to manipulation who possessed strategic knowledge that could threaten the entire Commonwealth if it fell into the wrong hands. He realized that he'd have to venture into dark gray territory to solve the mystery of his missing ship, and the trail soon led to Nivia.
