Now a respected senior officer in the Birmingham Constabulary, Chief Inspector Huxley Salt, (known by his middle name, John, to his colleagues and friends) will not tolerate lax attitudes or a disorderly appearance in the officers who serve alongside him. Although not popular with all his colleagues, he has a good professional, and social, relationship with Inspector Aaron Collier.
