Prior to becoming an international foodie, my first time heard salsa from my cousin, then I went speechless.
She went "Let us have some salsas for lunch.", she said it casually, and for a minute I expected her to laugh out loud saying she was joking.
Because what I knew as salsa was the dance! Now imagine me hear someone saying we wanted to eat salsa.
When she didn't laugh and headed straight to her kitchen to start throwing things together.
I was forced to ask "isn't salsa a dance?". She laughed and laughed at me before explaining to me that salsa was a Mexican meal.
She further went on to explain to me the different types of salsa delicacies that she loved to try .
She mentioned the Red Salsa which she said was a sauce making from tomatoes (either canned or cooked), hot chili, garlic, and onion.
She further mentioned that there are others such as the non-tomato based salsas (which featured veggies and fruits), green salsas (which featured green tomatoes known as tomatillos) and the Salsa Fresca (which featured jalapeno, garlic, onion, and fresh tomatoes).
She explained that the one she wanted to prepare was the Salsa Fresca.
I was blown away. I was thrilled to say the least. She promised that I'd enjoy it and I really did!
Fast forward to years after, I have become a Salsa lover and expert. I started my research of different Salsa recipes and I am thrilled to find out more and more delicious salsa recipes, and I am more thrilled to share some of my recipes with you!!
