Description

"Good's familiarity with Chinese politics, economics, and culture infuses his narrative with a wealth of details that lend realism to scenes of political wrangling and the minutiae of everyday life." IndieReader

In a story that could be ripped from today's headlines...

A #1 New Release. Life has finally settled down for Jack Gold. But all this downtime has left him feeling out of shape and without purpose, as the world around him continues to change. When President Wang Yang loses his re-election bid in China, Jack fears that everything he's done for the country will be all for nothing, as Wang's successor is vehemently opposed to everything Jack stands for. When the government-provided security detail is removed and Jack finds his family in imminent danger, they relocate to the United States, where an opportunity to work within the United States government presents itself that Jack simply cannot turn down.

Using the Declaration of Independence as his inspiration, Jack pens a document outlining China's misdeeds and the remedies that could bring true democratic change to the country of over one billion people. But the only way such a plan can succeed is if the government censorship over what Chinese citizens are able to access online is eradicated. This is no small undertaking, but if they can harness the power of social media and fight back against an onslaught of disinformation, the communist regime might finally be toppled. But when China invades Taiwan, it is up to Jack to take the decisive action to neutralize the threat and usher in democracy and freedom to the world's most populous nation.

Written by Brad Good, who started living and working in the People's Republic of China in 1988, THE CHINA AFFAIRS is a series of four novels that take place in China. Good brings rare on-the-ground knowledge of contemporary Chinese political, social, and cultural issues, and associated international affairs.

Jack Gold is an American in China who is recruited by an Israeli agent to penetrate the Control Center, China's broadcasting hub. (Book 1) Next, at great personal threat, China and the United States solicit his leadership in creating a new trade deal between the countries. (Book 2) Jack is then recruited by the President of China, with the use of artificial intelligence, to transform China and the lives of its citizens. (Book 3) After China elects a new president who returns the country to Communism, the President of the United States calls on Jack to lead a dangerous plan to fight back. (Book 4)
