The year is 1824.

Hugh Ramsey's regiment, stationed near Calcutta, has just mutinied following rumours of defilement of the salt supply which is offensive to both Hindu's and the Muslims.

Disillusioned by the revolt, and poor prospect of riches, Ramsey resigns from the Army, to set off in search of his fortune along with two of his faithful Sepoys.

Ramsey's trading partner sends him on a danger filled journey to the distant state of Zafarala, ruled by a corrupt Muslim Nawab.

Battling thugs and river pirates, his journey becomes entwined with that of an American banker family, Henry Constance and Ruth Whittaker and a famous dancer, Shakuntala.

Upon arrival, the group become embroiled in events that put their lives at risk.

War is threatening with the neighbouring state, involving Ramsey's old regiment.

Can he prevent the conflict before it's too late?

Or will The Sands of Truth uncover something more sinister when swept away?
